NexGen Power Systems designs and manufactures gallium nitride (GaN) power transistors for the $4.8B high-voltage (1200 V) power transistor market. GaN makes transistors that are 10 times faster than silicon (Si) power devices enabling economically significant improvements in sophisticated power systems in their physical size, cost and efficiency. Principal Device Engineer

Job Description
  • The individual will be responsible for device design and optimization for GaN vertical power devices to meet market requirements.
  • The individual must be self-motivated with ability to handle a fast-paced startup environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Device structural design coordinated with integration engineering.
  • Simulation of device electrical performance, as well as thermal modeling.
  • Determination of process manufacturing tolerances based on simulations of typical structural variations.
  • Design and layout of test chips to verify electrical performance.
  • Test specifications for test structures.

Process Engineering Manager/Director

Job Description
  • The individual will be responsible for various aspects of technology development including unit process development, process sustaining and process integration.
  • The individual must be self-motivated with very little need for management. Startup environment requires this individual to be hard working and flexible in supporting moving wafers through the fab.

Job Responsibilities

  • Establishing, measuring, and improving metrics for individual process modules including process objective specification, electrical performance and process control metrics.

Test Engineer

Job Description
  • NexGen Power Systems is seeking a motivated engineer on the Test Engineering team for a new generation of power semiconductor devices based on GaN.
  • You will work closely with product engineering, module, device, and applications teams to characterize new products and maintain production test capabilities for in support of volume shipments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operation and maintenance of test hardware and software for the characterization of GaN power semiconductor devices and circuits.
  • Implementation, correlation, and release of reliable test solutions in support of production ramps.
  • Design and procurement of custom probe cards which can operate in a high voltage environment.
  • Specification, design, and implementation of custom test environments to verify device operation to data sheet specifications.
  • Development of test solutions for power semiconductor components (1500V/30A) which meet all applicable safety requirements for both operator and equipment.
  • Clean and well-commented code constructs.
  • Develop and document procedures for advanced reliability test, such as high voltage stress.
  • Test efficiency – is the implemented test time within the allotted test time budget target?
  • Work closely with Product Engineering to achieve continuous improvement of the test environment as measured by reduction in the test time and yield improvement.
  • Work with Applications Engineering on customer-related issues.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering or Physics. MS/PHD is desired.
  • The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of semiconductor product test experience preferably with IGBT or other semiconductor power devices and circuits.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management abilities. Able to work to aggressive schedules.
  • Proactive approach to problem identification and solving. Can participate in and drive teams to root cause identification and creative solutions.
  • Strong competence in high voltage/high current equipment construction and operation.
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methods (e.g. 8D, 5 why)
  • Experience with Design of Experiments, statistics for manufacturing engineering.
  • Program experience, such as Matlab, Python, JSL LA is a plus.

Program Manager

Job Description

  • Develop, maintain and manage the micro-schedule for the FinFET Development NTP program (Launch to Production Transfer)
  • Coordinate with Process Engineering and Integration teams (Syracuse and Santa Clara) to effectively manage the details of the project schedule
  • Highlight all issues with the team as soon as they become known. Suggest (but demand) corrective actions wherever needed
  • Conduct periodic meetings with the various stakeholders so as to manage the NTP schedule on a daily basis
  • Update Management of project status on a weekly basis. If schedule slips occur that cannot be mitigated, create standard slip report and distribute to all stakeholders (including Executive Management) immediately

Senior Manufacturing Specialist

Job Description
  • In this role of a Manufacturing Operator is to strictly comply with all safety guidelines and process specifications during the handling and processing wafers through the tool sets. To assist engineering by monitoring the process and equipment, reporting abnormalities and to assist in developing or modifying methods and procedures for optimum efficiency, schedule attainment, cost and yield.

Job Responsibilities

Applications Engineer

Job Description
  • An ideal candidate should be an excellent team player and mentor to others while being capable of testing and evaluating switch mode power circuits and discreet power devices. A candidate should be familiar with the typical testing requirements and methods of a power supply and capable of supporting power supply designers in evaluation and testing of switch mode power reference designs and demonstration boards.

Job Responsibilities

Yield Engineer

Job Description

Failure Analysis Technician

Job Description
  • The individual will be responsible for various aspects of failure analysis for Nexgen’s fab process and products.

  • Basic troubleshooting and maintenance of FA tools.
